Gordon Ramsay: “The worst act of animal cruelty I’ve ever seen”
Filed in Gordon Ramsay on Oct.17, 2011
In Gordon Ramsay’s Shark Bait, the world’s most famous chef will expose the shocking practices that are threatening the existence of one of the earth’s most amazing creatures and confront the illicit fishermen, traders and diners who are responsible for the shark’s precipitous decline. Gordon Ramsay takes a trip to Costa Rica, one of the fishing capitals of the world, and speaks to a marine biologist about the effect that the popularity of shark fin soup is having on shark numbers. Gordon watches footage of a Hammerhead shark being attacked and finned alive, and thrown back into the sea.

Ramsay get your ass on a boat and rip one of those fisher mans scalps off while still alive, and see how they like it! I’ve always supported your work and respect your character you need to do something sir!

VEGETARIANS FTW!!!

you should see what they do to dogs. they tie them up and beat them to death with a stick as they think this causes the hormones / fear to dog feels to tenderize the meat making it taste better. i kid you not.

@90loneeagle it’s not the fishermens fault, they do it because they have mouths to feed, it’s the whole culture of eating the shark fins fault. You can’t just blame the provider of the shark fins for the problem you also have to blame the consumers. Just as you can’t blame gun producers but you have to blame the gun men, which again are part of some sort of organisation who uses gunmen -> guns.

@jmbhjsbsj Please dont make this into a vegetarian vs meat eater argument.

Man this is some really sick shit! Damn! It does not suprise me, human…. the worst enemy that anything living have, even human has human as it’s worst enemy.
October 14th, 2011 at 7:15 pm
Why do they not use the body too? Why just cut off a piece and throw away the rest? If do it then use up everything to the max. Waste… I hate it…
October 14th, 2011 at 8:31 pm
dont blame the fishermans.. its legal to do this and they got mouths to feed.
October 14th, 2011 at 10:12 pm
@MrAlexanderSjostrom They shouldn’t have mouths to feed, they should be sterilized.
October 14th, 2011 at 10:14 pm
@MrGlennJohnsen They do it because they’re sociopaths with no conscience. Just like you they rationalize the worst acts of cruelty upon others because all they care about is themselves.
October 14th, 2011 at 10:54 pm
This has nothing to do with mouths to feed or legalities! It takes a certain type of subhuman to be able to do this type of thing.

@jackburton2009 Writing this as he’s enjoying his fucking nice house, probably in a little suburban home. While the fisherman struggle to make ends meet. Piss off asshole if you really cared about the sharks you would pay the fisherman to stop fishing, because just telling them to stop, because it’s “bad” is ignorant beyond belief. You wouldn’t give two shits if you were in the position of that fisherman.

why did they reuploaded shark video??
October 15th, 2011 at 8:28 am
GO GET EM Gordon!!! For God’s Sake you bastards, Aren’t you bloody-well Human??
October 15th, 2011 at 9:51 am
@jackburton2009 they are not in the position, economically, to make moral decisions over the lives of giant fish, when they have mouths to feed.
October 15th, 2011 at 3:10 pm
In my opinion, its not what you eat it’s how you eat it. The method in which we slaughter animals is barbaric and simply holds us back as a species from reaching to the stars. If there is a god, how careless he is to allow this undeniable cruelty to survive. We owe it to the animals as the dominant epitome to act compassionate for those who are not.

As long as there is a demand, there we always be suppliers/supply, you have to kill the demand and then they suppliers will go away.

so sad
October 16th, 2011 at 3:59 am
@theMilkz That’s fallacious. Morality isn’t governed by income. There are other jobs they could do.
With your flawed reasoning criminal and sociopathic behavior is acceptable as long as you need the money.
Furthermore you have completely missed the point. They could just as easily kill the shark humanely instead of letting it suffer unnecessary pain. Also they are overfishing.
The bigger problem is human third-world overpopulation.
October 16th, 2011 at 5:55 am
I’m not a vegetarian, but I do have a lot of respect for sharks and how they are important to the ocean’s ecosystem. It’s sad, but I? think that most people don’t care about protecting sharks all because of the movie “Jaws.” They assume that sharks are completely barbaric and dangerous. It’s ironic because we (humans) are much more dangerous than sharks (we can use bombs and they can’t).
But anyway, much respect to Gordon Ramsay and his appreciation for sharks.
October 16th, 2011 at 10:17 am
@jackburton2009 if overpopulation is the problem, how exactly do you stop it before moving on to resolve the economical problems? they could do other jobs, yes, but what if this line of work offers more, for less effort? and how sure are you that job opportunities are that readily available for them to freely switch into? you cannot deny that money doesn’t influence morality. we are talking about human beings. what you are assuming is that everyone in the world SHOULD act decently. but do they??
October 16th, 2011 at 11:04 am
Damn, whatever you doing Gordon be careful and stand up right. You got to do something about this. I use to eat shark fin 5 years ago. I STOP eating them and im glad that i did that more after watching this!
October 16th, 2011 at 12:55 pm
@theMilkz Of course they should, but I don’t assume people will because not everyone is a rational person or intelligent. Many people are mentally ill and sociopathic.
Overpopulation in the third world is a huge problem. So many things would be much more manageable and less detrimental if populations in Latin America, Africa and Asia were much smaller. In this case the demand for shark fins is Asian.
Again, there is no reason they can’t kill sharks humanely and not overfish.
October 16th, 2011 at 6:29 pm
@jackburton2009 it’s not actually an issue caused by overpopulation. these problems of overfishing and inhumane fishing methods can be easily and quickly resolved by the banning of the activity by the respective governments. however, making it illegal will not stop the fishing and trade of shark’s fin, that is for sure, but will at least reduce the numbers. it is due to corrupt officials that are receiving some form of compensation to overlook the trade of shark’s fin. they are the ones to blame
